Experiencing Gravity

Last week when we were out picking blackberries with Javamom and our other friends, Mariel experienced gravity in a more startling way than usual. She fell out of a mesquite tree into a clump of blackberry bushes and tore her jeans.

That little story is for all my book club friends who laughed a couple of months ago when I said it was a good idea to get the kids outside so they could experience gravity. See? They really do experience it more fully when they are running and jumping and climbing outside.

There. I feel much better now.

I'm sure you all knew what I meant even as you laughed, didn't you? For two months I have been wondering how to explain myself. You know you have made some true friends when they poke a little fun at you, and you don't mind coming back for more. Thanks, ladies. :o)

I am a firm believer in gravity. :)

I regularly take my boys out to experience it on granite slabs. They cannot seem to pass by any rocks without climbing on them. What is that?

Must be experiencing gravity. :)

I enjoyed your blog today and thank you for the comment on my blog.

Indeed, we ladies might have been thinking about how gravity has done a work on us, LOL!

I was so proud of Mariel in that she did not get upset or cry, instead she was funny about it!! Those briers hurt, and that is right beside the place where I got stung by the wasp or hornet that I didn't see until after I got stung.

It was a memorable, memorable day :-).

Yes, if we give it a little more thought we might be able to name that mesquite/blackberry area. Let's see. I'm not as good at this as my kids. How about The Tree of Thorns and Stings?

I'll have to ask Triss to think of something.

Barb, my kids frequently gallivant on top of sandstone formations. Granite slabs would be quite interesting. We did get to go to Yosemite once. I distinctly remember staying together and "looking large" in order to threaten any bears that might be near. :o) That was an experience of anohter kind!
